2D and 3D Biomedical Animation and Motion Design
2D Biomedical Animation and Motion Design
2D animation is a useful medium for addressing certain topics and audiences (e.g., patient education, undergraduate science education, and so on). I find it to be a useful mode of communication that bridges between illustration and 3D animation. While it can be technically challenging, it is more approachable than 3D animation, and allows for easier editing and iterating. I use After Effects for its broad range of capabilities in animation and procedural motion design. Below are a few examples for a series of Biology education animations made in conjunction with colleagues at the University of Toronto Mississauga.
3D Biomedical Animation and Motion Design
I work primarily in Autodesk Maya. I have been teaching Maya since 2004 and do my own 3D work using this tool. Below are examples of collaborative work in 3D animation.
